Haiti Partnership

The Mission Committee and Session with the help of our missionary in Haiti, Cindy Corell, have been in a two-year conversation about our church entering into a  partnership with a community in Haiti to assist the Haitians with some projects, while also building lasting relationships.  We are ready to move forward.

Four representatives from our church will join a team from the Presbytery of the James, February 20-27, on a journey to Haiti.  The group will learn firsthand about some of the work that Cindy does.  They will visit with the folks from ODEPOL to meet some of the community leaders to find out details of the project that we will assist with in April.

When the group gets back they will share with the congregation and with our mission group that will go to Haiti, April 2-9.  This group will help the Haitians with the project and begin building relationships.  The plan is for this to be an endeavor that we will see grow over the months and years to come.

The congregation will have the opportunity to make a donation toward our Haiti partnership at the Pancake Supper on Shrove Tuesday, March 5, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall or at the Ash Wednesday Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary on March 6.

Your prayers are also appreciated and requested.  If you have questions about this effort, please be in touch with Bill Nix, Barry Jones, and/or Bruce Harvey.
