Monthly Ministry Opportunities

On the first Sunday of each month we collect disposable razors for the guests of the Micah Hospitality Center on Princess Anne Street.  There is a collection bin outside the Sanctuary each Sunday.

The last Sunday of every month you will find sand buckets outside the Sanctuary to receive the five-cents-a-meal hunger offering.  Seventy-five percent of this money goes to support hunger efforts at the Presbytery and General Assembly levels of our denomination through the           Presbyterian Hunger Program.  Twenty-five percent stays local and    supports our Food Pantry.  You are reminded that 5-cents-a-meal is       15-cents a day, $1.05 per week, and $4.20 a month.  With just 100   members participating, that would be $420 month and $5,040 a year.  Why not make this a part of your faith practice?

Community Dinners are held at our church on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturdays of the month.  Our church is responsible for the 3rd Saturdays.  Volunteers help cook, make brownies, serve meals, wash dishes, visit with the guests and more.  To volunteer, talk to Karen Johnson.

Our Food Pantry is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., in the basement of the Church House.  At least two volunteers work together during these hours to pack bags, greet guests and record their information.  To find out more about working in the Food Pantry, contact Helen Fortune. If you would like to help with the unloading and shelving food orders, contact Wayne Hibbeler. You may make monetary donations to the pantry.  You may also donate brown grocery bags and specific food items:  dry cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit, canned vegetables, spaghetti, and spaghetti sauce.
