Take Me Out to the Ball Game!

“Put me in, coach, I’m ready to play, today; Look at me, I can be centerfield!”  Do you love baseball?  Would you like to go to a National’s game?  The Fellowship Committee is hosting the Second Annual Trip to Nationals Park to see the Nationals take on the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday, August 29, at 1:35 p.m.  Look for a sign up table outside the Sanctuary through the summer.

It’s All Happening at the ZOO!

“Someone told me

It’s all happening at the zoo.

I do believe it, I do believe it’s true.”

With apologies to Simon & Garfunkel, when was the last time you went to the zoo?  We’re going to the National Zoo after worship on Sunday, July 18.  We’ll travel there individually and gather to share a packed lunch at the National Zoo picnic area.  Then it’s off to visit the animals at our own pace and enjoy the day.

Presbyterian Women: Fellowship with a Mission

Presbyterian Women activities generally are on hiatus for the months of June through August.  Be aware, however, of two exceptions:

1. The Presbyterian Women of the James will hold its Summer Gathering June 10-13 at Massanetta Springs, near Harrisonburg.  If you are interested, please contact Moderator, Carol Johnson, for more information and an application form for registration.  It is possible to attend either one or two days, whichever is convenient for you.  Class selections might be limited as time goes on, but the experience will still be worthy of participation to be sure.

2. On July 26, PW will hold its Summer Mission Workshop and Luncheon in the Church Parlor beginning at 10:00 a.m. and ending 12:30 p.m.  This is always a lovely fellowship event, and we would welcome newcomers warmly!  The  Coordinating Team will provide lunch.  We will be trimming stamps for the mission project in the Congo, making children’s comfort blankets (for the local domestic violence center), and helping sort clothes for the August School Dressing Days.  Plan on coming to help and to enjoy the fellowship!
