School Dressing Days ~ August 8 & 9

The annual School Dressing Days will be held August 8 and 9 at the LDS church on Bragg Road.  New clothing, school supplies, backpacks and toiletries are provided to children grades K-12 to get ready for back to school. As a member of the Interfaith Community Council, our church plays an integral role in this event, now into its fourth decade. Volunteers are needed to help families “shop,” keep items replenished, clean up, etc. on those two days and are also needed for set up on August 6 and 7.

Other ways to help include: monetary donations (make check to Interfaith Community Council with “School Dressing Days” on the memo line); donations of boys’ or men’s boxers or boxer briefs –new (colored briefs accepted for small sizes- 4 & 6 only); new junior sized teen girls’ jeans size 11, 13, 15; new or gently used backpacks; toiletries (deodorant, bar soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste); socks for boys (black or white, crew and “no show”) or girls (colorful “no show” socks popular).

We are also collecting gently used outerwear (coats, jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts) and shoes. The families are very appreciative of these items, so please consider donating things your children have outgrown.

There will be a receptacle outside the sanctuary on Sundays, or at the Princess Anne Street entrance to the Education Building.

To volunteer for the event, you can choose your time slot and sign up with the Sign Up Genius link – or sign up at church.
