Session is comprised of 19 currently serving elders, the clerk of Session, and the moderator. The session oversees the governance of the church, and is elated by the congregation. Interestingly, even though elders are elated to serve, Session is not a representative government. The members of Session vote according to their conscience, led by the Holy Spirit.
Deacons are also elected by the congregation, and the Board of Deacons oversees the congregational care of the members. They reach out to members in times of joy and concern, bring flowers to those in particular need, and help with funeral arrangements.
