Earth Care Congregation
Congregations within the PC(USA) that are passionate about being good stewards of God's creation can become certified Earth Care Congregations by taking the Earth Care Pledge, and completing projects in worship, facilities, education, and outreach. Each year, congregations must get re-certified every year. The Presbyterian Church became an Earth Care Congregation in 2021. Learn about some of the projects we are completing on this page.
A Sustainable Lifestyle
"Sustainable" has become a buzz word in recent years, and many of us may want to have our homes and diets be more sustainable, but have a difficult time knowing where to begin. The button below has some resources and ideas for more sustainable living--whether you feel you can make little changes or you're ready to do a lot. It also has some reading and viewing suggestions to spark more ideas.
Season of Creation begins September 8, and lasts 4 Sundays. It will culminate October 5, with a Blessing of the Animals in honor of St Francis of Assisi. The themes for each Sunday are below. More information to come.
The Season of Creation began in Australia as a way to highlight our connection to non-human creation in a liturgical way. It also breaks up the long liturgical season of Ordinary Time. Like the Revised Common Lectionary, the Season of Creation follows a three year cycle. This year, we are following the "Wisdom Cycle." Let the bounty and diversity of creation become a part of the rhythms of worship just as Advent and Lent do each year. Click below for each Sunday's theme.
